HSG Family Day – November 9, 2019 – Sacramento, California

Focused on families, this is a full day event covering research, caregiving, and HD advocacy.

You’ll have an opportunity to ask HD experts your questions!

ALL ARE WELCOME! Individuals with HD, families and friends impacted by HD (including youth), and health care providers.

This event is FREE and open to the public, but registration is strongly encouraged.

Room 1: HD Across the Lifecycle
Guests attending this Breakout Session will learn about the onset and progression of HD, including discussion about late-onset HD.
Additional focus in this session will be given to Juvenile-onset HD (JHD) and children living with HD.
Join Dr. Amy Hellman (HSG – University of Nebraska), BJ Viau (HDYO), and Dr. Veronica Santini (Stanford University).

Room 2: Genetics and HD
Think of this session as HD Gene 101. Our presenters will cover things to know, like CAGs, SNPs, ASOs, and CRISPR,
plus insights on predictive genetic testing and reproductive options.
Join Lisa Mooney, LCSW (UC Davis), Dr. Kyle Fink (UC Davis), Mara Sifry-Platt, MS ( Kaiser Permanente), and family members Christina and Matt,
as they share their expertise and discuss their personal experiences.

Room 3: Movement, Medicine, and Mood
This session covers a range of topics from our “Inspiration Panel” of family members, caregivers, and community members doing inspirational things in HD.
Our presenters discuss how movement activities and proper use of medications can help improve mood for the patient and the care team.

Room 4: HD Youth Activities
This breakout session is intended for any guests under the age of 18, as a lighter alternative to the other parallel breakout sessions for kids and youth.
Cat Martin and Chandler Swope from HDYO will provide a fun and engaging atmosphere that can help answer questions from the youth perspective,
or just give those younger guests a chance to meet each other and enjoy some games.
